MCGC 2009 Advent Recollection

In our desire for all greeters and collectors in the Parish to be spiritually prepared for the Season of Advent, the Formation and Spiritual Development Group (FSDG) of the Ministry of Church Greeters and Collectors (MCGC) had scheduled an Advent Recollection to be held on the 5th of December 2009 at the Parish Hall from 8am to 11 am. The group has chosen the theme, Liturgy after Liturgy which will be facilitated tentatively by Rev. Fr. Christian Edward Abao, Director of the Diocesan Liturgical Commission of the Diocese of San Pablo. The activity will be very helpful in the spiritual growth of the greeters and collectors.

Basic Formation Seminar for Church Greeters and Collectors

Last October 24, 2009, selected officers of the Ministry of Church Greeters & Collectors (MCGC) attended the annual Basic Formation Seminar for Church Greeters and Collectors of the Archdiocese of Manila held at the Arzobizpado de Manila, Intramuros Manila. The Ministry of Church Greeters and Collectors (MCGC) of the parish was given the chance to attend and participate in the said event thru the established linkages between MCGC and Rev. Fr. Godwin Tatlonghari of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission (ALC) of the Archdiocese of Manila.

The participation of the parish on said activity was also recommended by Rev. Fr. Christian Edward Abao, Director of the Liturgical Commission of the Diocese of San Pablo. Almost 500 greeters and collectors from the different parishes, shrines and chapels within the Archdiocese of Manila attended the event which started thru a Holy Mass that was led by Rev. Fr. Godwin Tatlonghari, Assistant Director of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission (ALC) of the Archdiocese of Manila and concurrent Director for the Ministry of Church Greeters and Collectors who also facilitated the whole day activity.

The participants of the parish include the former head of MCGC and currently the head of MCGC’s Formation and Spiritual Development Group (FSDG), Dingdong D. Baban, MCGC’s new President, Kevin Henry A. Jamisola, Antonio F. Alcazar and Joseph Hernandez of the Greeters Group and Kevin B. Argente of the Collectors Group.

MILESTONES:Father Toochy Installs the MCGC Members

October 18, 2009 was indeed a day of grace for all the greeters and collectors of the Parish. For the very first time since the group was formally established in the Parish, the members of the ministry was imposed and inducted into the service by Rev. Fr. Buenaventura C. Ubarco. A total of seventy six (76) members were installed coming from the different Masses of the Parish including those members servicing the Pavilion Mall Saturday Anticipated Mass.

MCGC: Now the Biggest Group in the Parish in terms of membership

The Ministry of Church Greeters and Collectors scored another milestone this year when it reached the highest number of membership among the ministries and organizations in the Parish right now reflective of an effective recruitment campaign in less than two (2) months. The MCGC opened its doors last July 2009 to new members with the help of Ms. Alice Maunahan-Javier and some of the existing members who actively recruited their friends and classmates. From a small number of less than twenty (20) members, the group grew to sixty (60) members as of September 06, 2009.

Note: There are other two (2) members of from Resurreccion Chapel that were excluded from the lists due to concerns on their full names but they are official members of the ministry also. Including them membership is now at 62 to be exact. As of last Sunday, September 06, 2009, there are still applicants that are still in the process of screening and expected to be included after they have undergone the required orientation and training. The target of MCGC is to assign minimum of sixteen members for each Mass that will serve as Greeters (8) and Collectors (8) and to be able to deploy new members to Masses at Pavilion Mall and Platero Chapel by the end of October 2009. All for the Glory of God!

MCGC Celebrates 5th Year Anniversary Celebration next month

In celebration of the 5th year anniversary of MCGC this coming September 27, 2009 various activities has been lined to commemorate the same:

Novena and Masses in Honor of San Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila (September 19-28, 2009)

MCGC IMPOSITION--HIGHLIGHTS OF THE GROUP'S ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION NEXT MONTH

This coming September 27, 2009, the Ministry of Church Greeters and Collectors will be formally imposed and inducted as church workers of the Parish. The imposition is a fitting event to usher in the 4th Year Anniversary Celebration of MCGC this coming September 2009. In preparation for the said imposition, a Formation Seminar will be scheduled on August 21, 2009 for the old and newly recruited members of the group to be facilitated by the group’s adviser on Formation and Spiritual Development, Ms. Alice Maunahan-Javier.

The following are the milestones or developments within the group for the past two to three months in view of their vision to continuously upgrade the quality of service in the Parish as Ministry of Liturgical Greeters and Collectors:

1.The group decided to change the name of the ministry from Ushers and Collectors Ministry or UCM to Ministry of Church Greeters and Collectors to create more emphasis on the distinct role of our members as ministers of hospitality;

2.The ministry also established the linkages with the Liturgical Ministry of the Archdiocese of Manila who are tasks to handle the affairs and development of the Ministry of Church Greeters and Collectors for the time being that our Diocese has yet to create its own coordinating body specifically for the ministers of hospitality. The manual created by the Liturgical Ministry of the Archdiocese of Manila is the one being used as guide of the ministry for its training programs;

3.In order to balance the mobilization and formation aspect of the ministry, Ms. Alice Maunahan-Javier, a Religion Instructor and Catechists from Sta. Catalina College has been formally designated by the ministry as the group’s adviser on Formation and Spiritual Development of the members. As adviser on Formation and Spiritual Development, she will be handling the development of formation activities of the ministry;

4.Last July 2009, the ministry has completed its recruitment program particularly for new Church Greeters and almost 25 new volunteers have been recruited on top of the existing 35 members. These new Church Greeters will play a key role in the living Body of Christ as the first contact believers have with the assembly when they arrive for Mass.
